Nomination process

Scottish Sports Aid invites nominations each year from the National Governing Bodies of 30 or more sports and disciplines. Nominees must be identified and nominated by their National Governing Body of Sport's official representatives, based on their talent, their sporting potential, and their financial need. Athletes should meet the following criteria:

  • Performance : Currently competing at national level for their age group, and ranked within the top 3 or 4 nationally within their age-group, with potential to represent Scotland at senior level.
  • Age: between 12 and 22 years old, or up to 35 for disability sports.
  • Funding: should not be in receipt of other funding.

If you feel that you meet these criteria, contact your National Governing Body to discuss your nomination for a Scottish Sports Aid award and request a Scottish Sports Aid grant application form, which are available in September each year. There is usually an entry date dead-line in October or November each year, with the majority of grants being paid in February to April the following year.
